Chariots of Fire (1981)

Best remembered for its theme tune – to which a generation of boys raced each other home from school. This was the Oscar-wining tale of two men competing in the 1924 Paris Olympics.

The oft-imitated slow motion sprinting sequences helped Chariots of Fire become an international hit for the British film industry, and location filming on the streets of Cambridge did no harm at all for the town’s tourist industry.
